About Tentacle Solutions

Tentacle Solutions started back in 2001, when a small team of database developers decided to offer bespoke software development services to companies in Glasgow. Today Tentacle Solutions has grown into an impressive team of top software, web and mobile app designers and developers who have developed a world class enterprise software platform called Tentacle.

  • 2001
    T-Enterprise is formed by a small group of database developers working from an empty office at the back of a travel agency in the south side of Glasgow.
  • 2002
    T-Enterprise releases a robust and innovative middleware platform.
  • 2004
    T-Enterprise moves offices to Renfield Street in Glasgow's city center and releases a flight booking platform.
  • 2006
    T-Enterprise releases Blu-Drive software. T-Enterprise wins a contract to develop software for a Channel 4 production company.
  • 2009
    T-Enterprise releases Golf Drive software. T-Enterprise wins a contract with a major Aberdeen-based company to develop software for their global partners.
  • 2010
    T-Enterprise wins its first public contract. Later in the year, T-Enterprise wins a contract to develop the platform for a major Danish-based card company.
  • 2011
    T-Enterprise develops its first .NET platform for future projects.
  • 2012
    T-Enterprise releases its E-Commerce platform. T-Enterprise wins a major contract (via an agency) for Turner Media's Cartoon Network platform.
  • 2013
    T-Enterprise develops its competition software platform. T-Enterprise wins major contracts with Legal & General and Glasgow City Council.
  • 2014
    T-Enterprise rebrands to Tentacle Solutions. Tentacle wins a contract with Glasgow City Council to develop a series of platforms for the Transport Museum and Kelvinbridge Museum.
  • 2015
    Tentacle releases its innovative solution for Aberdeen City Council.
  • 2016
    Tentacle releases its Travel Software Platform.
  • 2017
    Tentacle starts developing its Manned Security Software.
  • 2018
    Tentacle wins a major contract for Network Rail.
  • 2019
    Tentacle’s competition software wins 3 major contracts with a Bollywood production company, an Italian startup, and a successful Spanish footwear specialist.
  • 2019
    Tentacle starts developing its ThunderBolt platform.
  • 2020
    ThunderBolt Security is developed and deployed for existing Security clients. Tentacle wins a major contract for one of Scotland's largest financial companies to rebuild their software using ThunderBolt.
  • 2021
    Tentacle wins major public contracts for the UK's largest gallery and Dundee City Council. Later in the year, Tentacle wins a public contract for Northamptonshire Council. Tentacle staff move out from the Glasgow offices and work from home.
  • 2022
    ThunderBolt Security's major update is released. ThunderBolt wins a private tender for Scotland's largest sustainable office furniture suppliers. Tentacle’s competition software wins major contracts with companies based in Croatia, Nigeria, and Ireland. Tentacle moves into Collaborate offices in Glasgow city center.
  • 2023
    ThunderBolt wins a major public contract with one of the largest mental health providers. ThunderBolt also secures a contract for one of Ireland's most successful manufacturers.
  • 2024
    ThunderBolt is rebranded to Tentacle. Tentacle wins contracts for two of the UK's leading manned security firms. Tentacle (ThunderBolt at the time of submission) wins the UK Business Security Award, beating all major software providers.

Still based in Glasgow, Tentacle delivers a high-end B2B software platform to clients around the world which include SMEs and Enterprises in service, security, energy, construction HVAC, tourism, engineering, and manufacturing industries in both the public and private sectors.

Tentacle's team developed Tentacle using Microsoft’s powerful .NET CORE framework with the latest SQL database which applies advanced intelligence throughout the platform.

Tentacle Solutions Ltd are committed to sustainable development as a guiding principle within our work. Concern for the environment is an integral and fundamental part of this commitment. We recognise the importance no matter how small the impact of our activities on the environment and that there is a need to constantly consider ways in which we can conserve energy and minimise waste in all activities that we undertake. Our aim is to reduce the impact on the environment from our operations.

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Following a science-based reduction target approach, Tentacle Solutions Ltd is committed to reducing at least 90% of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions by 2030. All remaining emissions will be offset where avoidance/reduction isn’t possible.

Some of our strategies include:

  • We will focus on actual reductions in our emissions.
  • Minimise waste by evaluating operational practices and ensuring they are as efficient as possible to reduce environmental impact.
  • Raise awareness amongst employees on environmental issues, to support and encourage ideas and suggestions for improved environmental performance.
  • Use resources including water, energy, and other natural resources responsibly.
  • Further promote and invest in technologies, work practices and processes that provide alternatives to business travel, such as Microsoft Teams for meetings.
  • Meet or exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to our organisation.
